>Part 1 of a new series by Tim Conway:
God, Church & Family-A Call To Excellency
“I hope in the course of this series to deal with things like: singleness, dating, marriage, parenting, adoption, birth control, divorce, remarriage, homosexuality. A number of key issues [and] other things possibly that effect the family today. I backed away from simply calling this a family series, the primary reason being this: Brothers and sisters, when you search this Book, you cannot find here that there is a God glorifying family that is described that is somehow churchless or church despising, it’s simply not found there. Basically God, church, family, the reason I’m going there is because it’s inconceivable… to Christ, it is inconceivable to Paul, to John, to James, to Peter, to the writer of Hebrews to conceive of a family that is not worshipping and praying and living and existing in the context of a church, it’s just not there. So I don’t want us just thinking ‘family’, why do I emphasize that? Brethren, we’ve had people time and again come here that say ‘I want to join your church, I wanna be involved in your church’, but lay it down right from the beginning: ‘I’m only coming to one service a week’ Why? ‘because I’m gonna take the rest of my time and spend it with my family’. Listen! If that’s your idea of a family integrated church, it is wrong! It is not a New Testament perspective on the family to think that the family exists outside of the context of a local church. It is not supported in your New Testament folks, it’s not there. By all means we need strong families, by all means we need Biblical families, but a Biblical family is not a family that is operating distinct from and separate to the church. It’s simply not there.”~Tim Conway

“Have we lost our inclination to tremble at the word of the Lord?”
