>1 Samuel 14:52 – “when Saul saw any strong man, or any valiant man, he attached him to himself.” – Saul was gaining victory off of the blessings the Lord had bestowed upon others. In the same way many will attach themselves to the preaching of Paul Washer, and they will seem as though they are on the narrow road, but when the war gets heated will they perform the deeds of the Lord(1Sam15:3) and slay all their idols? They will even go “on the mission on which the Lord sends them”(1Sam 15:20), but they will “fear the people and obey their voice”(1 Sam 15:24) instead of the voice of God. And in the end Saul “took his own sword and fell upon it.”(1 Sam 31:4). “David strengthened himself in the Lord his God.” (1 Sam 30:6b) Was Saul doing such? He was strengthening himself in David who was strengthening himself in the Lord. Is your strength in a man of God or in God? Is it in your radical church or in your all consuming fire of a living God? It is not enough to be caught in the consuming fire of God that burns off of another, but you must be caught in the very center of it yourself.
